Title: Condensation processes in coal-combustion products. Progress report, July 1, 1981-June 30, 1982

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:5270901

Slag vaporization is a serious problem in high-temperature coal combustion and gasification atmospheres. Cooling of process gas streams causes the slag vapors to condense, but they do not necessarily do so at equilibrium. Predicting the compositions and properties of the condensing species requires modeling the nucleation processes occurring in these systems. This is a report of our progress toward modeling the nucleation processes, implementing the model with a computer code suitable for design calculations, and testing the model with appropriate experiments.
