Acid precipitation is having a major adverse impact on many lakes in New York's Adirondack Park as well as posing serious threats to the quality of plants and soils and to economic and social values associated with the Park. Concerned with these impacts, the Adirondack Park Agency has studied the growing amount of information available on this phenomenon, as well as the legal and institutional framework in which decisions regarding the control of acid precipitation must eventually be made. The Adirondack Park Agency's current position on this subject is presented and its recommendations regarding acid precipitation in the Park are outlined.
