Assignments of the high power optically pumped cw laser lines of CH/sub 3/OH

Journal Article · · IEEE J. Quant. Electron.; (United States)
Thirteen FIR laser lines in CH/sub 3/OH, optically pumped by a CO/sub 2/ laser, have been assigned to a- and b-type transitions in ..nu../sub 5/ CO-stretch band. Identification procedures used were: a frequency match between the CO/sub 2/ pump and CH/sub 3/OH absorption, frequency match of laser lines and CH/sub 3/OH ..nu../sub 5/ transitions, polarization of FIR radiation, cascade and competition effects between FIR laser lines, and frequency consistencies. An improved set of molecular constants for ..nu../sub 5/ transitions were also obtained.
