Patterns of fluoride accumulation in forest species as related to symptoms and defoliation

Conference · · Proc., Annu. Meet., Air Pollut. Control Assoc.; (United States)
OSTI ID:5263744

The results of some aspects of a 4 year study of the impact of a phosphorus plant on forest vegetation are reported. They include: (1) general development of fluoride injury symptoms in forest species, their sensitivity and threshold levels of accumulation and safe level of fluoride concentrations in the air; (2) foliar F-accumulations and defoliation; (3) long term F-accumulation patterns in conifers; (4) relationship between foliar F-accumulation and average F- concentrations in air over long periods; (5) foliar F-accumulations, severity of damage and emission levels; and (6) air quality standards, F-symptoms and F-concentration in air at Long Harbor.
