Studies on the luminescence properties of CaO. Gd/sub 2/O/sub 3/. SiO/sub 2/; Eu,Bi luminophors

The luminophors of CaO . Gd/sub 2/O/sub 3/ . SiO/sub 2/:Eu,Bi were synthesised and luminescence properties of Bi/sup 3+/, Eu/sup 3+/ ions were studied. The effects and regularities of Gd/sup 3+/ ion on the luminescence of Eu/sup 3+/ and Bi/sup 3+/ ions were investigated. It is shown that Gd/sup 3+/ ion can greatly promote the sensitive effect of Bi/sup 3+/ on Eu/sup 3+/ and cause the Stokes shift of Bi/sup 3+/ luminescence to become smaller linearly as the concentration of Gd/sup 3+/ ion is increased. The experiment results show that (Ca,Gd,Li)/sub 2/SiO/sub 4/ is an excellent host lattice for obtaining efficient photoluminescent materials.
