Effects of nitrogen dioxide on algae

The effects of atmospheric nitrogen dioxide on the photosynthetic activity of blue-green and green algae are surveyed. Photosynthetic activity of the blue-green species was almost totally eliminated after 3 days of exposure to 5.0 ppM NO/sub 2/. The green algae was not appreciably affected by concentrations of 15.0 ppm for the same time period. (14 references, 2 tables)
