BRNANL is a FORTRAN program for identifying basic blocks in a FORTRAN program. Specifically, BRNANL will read an ANS FORTRAN 1966 program and generate a copy of the program that contains a subroutine call at the head of every basic block. The name and purpose of this subroutine are at the control of the user; therefore, BRNANL may be used to gather statistics about the performance of a program. For exaple, the sections of code that are executed in a program may be recorded, the sequence in which statements are executed may be recorded, etc. 4 figures.
