This patent describes a gas scrubber system. It comprises: a work area containing air to be cleaned; a gas scrubber member mounted adjacent to the work area, and having an inlet communicating with and receiving air from the work area, the gas scrubber member further having an outlet located downstream from the inlet; a source of liquid communicating with the inlet, the liquid being mixed with the air in the gas scrubber and removed from the air downstream of the outlet to remove contaminants from the air; the gas scrubber member having an entry portion, a restriction downstream of the entry portion and a downstream portion downstream of the restriction, the entry portion, restriction and downstream portion being in a first section of the gas scrubber member where the air and liquid flow in a direction generally perpendicular to the inlet, a planar base wall extending generally parallel to the inlet to define the approximately 90{degrees} bend for the air, the base wall extending to a stepped portion which is in the second section and extends in a direction toward the inlet, and generally perpendicularly from the base wall; and the gas scrubber member extending longitudinally and laterally and having two generally longitudinally extending sides and two generally laterally extending sides, with the 90{degrees} bend being underneath one of the longitudinally extending sides, defined as an outlet longitudinally extending side, the other the longitudinally extending side being defined as a back longitudinally extending side.
