The reaction of tert-butoxy radicals with diphenylmethanol and with cumene was examined using nanosecond laser flash photolysis techniques in order to determine the absolute values of the rates of reaction of the radicals. The absolute rate measured for both substrates compare favorably with the values for the benzophenone triplet. (JSR)
