In the spectrum of samarium, we identified the 4{ital f} {sup 6}6{ital s}{sup 2} {sup 5}{ital D} levels with energies of 15 914.55 (3) and ({ital J}=1), 17 864.29 (3) ({ital J}=2), and 20 195.76 (3) cm{sup {minus}1} ({ital J}=3), the position of which was not known previously. Transitions to these levels from the levels of the fundamental term were observed. The detected transitions have isotopic and hyperfine splitting that is smaller than that of the Doppler width, and a small collision broadening. Thanks to the presence of close levels of opposite parity, effects due to the nonconservation of parity can be amplified on these transitions. The search for and study of the transitions were carried out in accordance with the Macaluso-Corbino effect---Faraday rotation of the plane of polarization of light near resonance.
