Experiment E710 at the Fermilab Tevatron has measured the forward scattering parameters, {sigma}{sub tot}, the total cross section, and B, the elastic nuclear slope parameter, at a center of mass energy ({radical}s) of 1.8 Tev. The author has obtained 78.3 {plus minus} 5.9 mb for {sigma}{sub tot} and 16.3 {plus minus} .5 (Gev/c){sup {minus}2} for B. These measurements show that the rise of {sigma}{sub tot} and B with the center of mass energy is consistent with ln{sup 2}s. He has also calculated the total elastic cross section to be 19.6 {plus minus} 3.0 mb, and hence, the ratio of the elastic to the total cross section is .25 {plus minus} .02, at {radical}s 1.8 Tev. Presented is the outline of the experimental procedure and the analysis that was done. Drift chambers were housed inside Roman pots, about 100 m downstream from the interaction region on each side, allowing us to get sufficiently close to the beam. He obtained an elastic distribution of events at a square momentum transfer range of .02 < {vert bar}t{vert bar} < .08 (Gev/c){sup 2}. He compares his results with a QCD-inspired model and model-free parameterizations, which also predict the asymptotic nature of these parameters.
