Laminar heat transfer of a high-viscosity Newtonian fluid in horizontal rectangular ducts

Friction factor and Nusselt number at the thermal entrance region in a horizontal rectangular duct were studied from both theoretical and experimental points of view for laminar high-viscosity Newtonian fluid with the boundary condition of uniform wall temperature. The theoretical study was carried out by considering the effect of variable viscosity on temperature using the finite difference method and the experiments involved the heating of ethylene glycol with saturated steam under atmospheric pressure. 14 refs.
