Inservice inspection of turbine rotors, 2

Conference · · Proc. Am. Power Conf.; (United States)
OSTI ID:5241468
Inservice inspection (ISI) of turbine rotors from fossil units is described with rotors having a central bore. In this case, inspection procedures involve surface crack detection methods along with Ultrasonic Tests (UT) from the outer surface as well as the inner surface of the bore. Considering that the bore increases local stress and requires removal of the rotor for accessibility for boresonic testing, the benefits of a design without a bore are indicated. 13 refs.
