Update on contract renegotiation in the interstate natural gas market

Book ·
OSTI ID:5236087
In an effort to reduce their sales prices, interstate natural gas pipelines have been renegotiating their gas-purchase contracts with both domestic producers and with foreign exporters. Price reductions resulting from domestic renegotiations in the first quarter of 1985 exceed the limited reductions achieved in 1984. However, the domestic renegotiation effort still leaves prices above wellhead market-clearing levels for high-cost gas, some regulated categories of gas and gas deregulated on January 1, 1985. Although price reductions from renegotiating import agreements were important in 1984, little additional reduction occurred in the first quarter of 1985. 14 references.
