Research and development activities in the field of aeration system design, operation, performance, and testing--in the United States, Canada, and Europe--are summarized in this book. In recent years, a substantial effort has been made to search for energy efficient wastewater treatment systems. Since wastewater aeration is relatively energy intensive, RandD efforts have been aimed at improving design, manufacture, testing, operation and control of these systems. The main goals behind this RandD are aeration system energy use reduction and improved criteria for sizing oxygen transfer equipment.
