Solution removal of H sub 2 S from gas streams

Patent ·
OSTI ID:5230525

This patent describes a process for the removal of H{sub 2}S from a sour gaseous stream. It comprises feeding the sour gaseous stream to a first contacting zone, and intimately contacting the sour gaseous stream in the first contacting zone with an aqueous solution; passing the gas-solution mixture from the third contacting section through an addition contact section of the second-contact zone and contacting the gas-solution mixture with aqueous reactant solution containing solubilized ferric chelate of the acid or acids and solubilized ferrous chelate of the acid or acids, and forming a gas-solution mixture having an increased solution to gas ratio to provide additional wetting liquid for wetting channel surfaces following the addition contact section in the second contact zone; and separating the gas having reduced H{sub 2}S content from gas-reactant solution mixture produced.
