The Waiawa Shaft Site (WSS) is on the National Priorities List. WSS consists of one contaminated potable well that is operated by the U.S. Navy. The contaminants of concern are trichloropropane (TCP) and dibromochloropropane (DBCP). The site is considered to be of potential public health concern because of the risk to human health caused by the possibility of human exposure to hazardous substances. Ingestion of and direct contact with contaminated ground water by area residents are the exposure pathways of concern.
