Comparison of nuclear properties of /sup 45/Ti = 1/2 mirror pairs in the f7/2 shell has been continued by studying /sup 45/V, mirror nucleus of well-known /sup 45/Ti. Prompt and delayed gamma-gamma and neutron-gamma coincidence studies were made of states in /sup 45/V populated in the /sup 40/Ca(/sup 7/Li,2n)/sup 45/V reaction using 14 to 16 MeV /sup 7/Li. These studies, comparison with mirror nucleus /sup 45/Ti, consideration of the Coulomb displacement energies, and observation of quasirotational band characteristics lead to the assignment of bound states in /sup 45/V of 7/2+ (1273 keV), 5/2+ (796.8 keV), 3/2+ (386.1 keV), 3/2- (57.2 keV), 5/2- (56.4 keV), and 7/2- (ground state). The identification by /sup 45/V was further confirmed by a /sup 7/Li + /sup 40/Ca excitation function study and by the observation of /sup 45/V in gamma-gamma and neutron-gamma coincidence studies using the /sup 40/Ca(/sup 6/Li,n)/sup 45/V reaction. The angular distribution of gamma rays of /sup 45/Ti was measured and resulted in a J/sup ..pi../ assignment of 13/2- to the 2656 keV level in /sup 45/Ti. Since the production cross section of /sup 45/V is very small, most /sup 45/V gamma rays do not appear in gamma ray singles, so no conclusions could be drawn about the J/sup ..pi../ of /sup 45/V levels from this experiment. The beta decay half-life of /sup 45/V was determined to be 410 +- 50 msec by a pulsed-beam /sup 6/Li + /sup 40/Ca study. Negative results of a search for the 40 keV 5/2- ..-->.. 7/2- (ground state) transition of /sup 45/Ti following /sup 45/V beta decay provided an upper limit of about 12% on possible Gamow-Teller branching to the 5/2- state in /sup 45/Ti in the beta decay of /sup 45/V.
