Fracture toughness of cement paste and mortars

Journal Article · · Cem. Concr. Res.; (United States)

The effective fracture toughness of a range of cement pastes and mortars have been measured using both a notched beam and a double cantilever beam method. The influence of size and quality of aggregate on the effective toughness has been studied as the cracks advance. The observed values of fracture toughness are dependent on crack velocity.
