Calculation of the losses in a laser cavity containing elements for locking the radiation spectrum by the phase-polarization method

This paper calculates the frequency dependence of the lossesof a laser cavity equipped for phase-polarization locking of the radiation spectrum. Two variants of the layout of a linear cavity were calculated. The calculation was carried out by the method of Jones matrices taking into account the absorption dichroism of the medium for different values of the Zeeman splitting of the line and optical absorption and transmission densities of the polarizer. and optical absorption and transmission densities of the polarizer. The results of the calculations of the phase polarization losses of laser cavities show that in lasers with a wide gain band it is possible not only to narrow with comparatively high energy efficiency and lock the radiation spectrum to wavelengths corresponding to the selective absorption lines of the materials, but also to control deliberately, with good reproducibility, the width of the gain line and its position relative to the center of the absorption line, and to obtain two narrow lines and scan them with a magnetic field along the contour at a distance of several Doppler widths from its center. The theoretical results obtained are in good agreement with the experimental results for lamp-pumped dye lasers.
