Ion acceleration in a weakly magnetized electron beam

Cyclotron focusing instability of a double-beam electron-ion system is considered in a weak uniform external magnetic field under the assumption that the physical processes are periodic in time (boundary-value problem). It is shown that an accelerated space charge wave, in which ions are trapped by the beam electrons, is produced during the nonlinear stage in instability for a wide range of system parameters.
