Photoproton spectra from /sup 24/Mg have been measured in a bremsstrahlung beam. The end-point energy was varied over the range 17--30 MeV with a 1-MeV step. From the photoproton spectra we calculated the distributions of the fraction of transitions to various states of the /sup 23/Na final nucleus and determined the partial cross sections corresponding to these transitions. The giant resonance of /sup 24/Mg is broken down into components associated with electric dipole transitions from the 1d--2s outer shell and the 1p inner shell. An estimate is given of the contribution of 1p--1h configurations. The results are compared with theory.
