Differential cross sections have been calculated for the elastic and inelastic scattering of neutrons by /sup 152/Sm in the energy range 2.4--7.2 MeV. The dependence on the optical-model parameters and deformation parameters is studied. The mechanism of the reaction through the compound nucleus is taken into account by the Hauser-Feshbach method. Excitation curves are calculated both for the direct process and for that through the compound nucleus. It is shown that the combined cross section is in good agreement with the experimental results.
