Optically pumped GaAs lasers with two-dimensional Bragg reflectors

Experiments on oscillations of a new two-dimensional distributed-feedback (DFB) laser are reported. A pair of distributed Bragg reflectors (DBR) and another perpendicular corrugation were formed on a GaAs crystal and the sample was optically pumped at 77/sup 0/K. Oscillations of a two-dimensional mode in addition to that of a one-dimensional mode were observed.
