Intrathoracic gastric cyst demonstrated by /sup 99m/Tc pertechnetate scintigraphy

Journal Article · · Am. J. Roentgenol.; (United States)

Intrathoracic gastric cysts are relatively rare congenital malformations of the foregut, partly or completely lined by gastric mucosa. Their early preoperative diagnosis is important because of the grave prognosis if they are undiagnosed. Technetium-99m pertechnetate scintigraphy has been widely used as a screening procedure for identifying ectopic gastric mucosa in other sites. This report describes a case of intrathoracic gastric cyst demonstrated by pertechnetate scintigraphy.
