Differential cross sections have been measured at neutron energies 5.0, 6.0, and 7.0 MeV for elastic scattering of neutrons by Ti nuclei and for inelastic scattering of neutrons with excitation of the three lowest levels of the /sup 48/Ti nucleus. The data obtained, together with the data of the authors on the scattering cross sections of neutrons with energy 1.5-3.0 MeV in Ti nuclei and the data of other authors on the neutron scattering cross sections and total cross sections for Ti in the energy range 0.5-9.0 MeV, have been analyzed in the framework of an optical-statistical approach and have been compared with the estimates according to ENDF/B-V. The relative role of the direct and compound mechanisms for scattering of neutrons by /sup 48/Ti in the energy region investigated is estimated.
