Personal computers as knowledge base development environment

Conference ·
OSTI ID:5209945
A LISP-based programming environment running on a personal computer which not only is capable of assisting program (knowledge based, expert system) development, but also can carry out local decision-support inferencing and remote network access or transfer of data/knowledge. The author concludes that the personal computer is still not the most suitable vehicle for large-scale knowledge-base development. The system considered is MULE (the mulisp extension) and the whim symbolic programming and declarative logic inferencing environment; these run on the IMB PC. 7 references.
