Under the auspices of the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI), a national project started in January 1982 to develop a high-speed computer system with 10 billion flops performance for scientific applications. This project is scheduled to be completed in FY1989 and has a total budget of 23 billion yen (approximately 100 million dollars).
