To provide basic information on why coal gasification is needed and what processes are available or under development, Fluor Corp., has compiled an overview of coal-gasification technology that includes descriptions and diagrams of processes that are: 1) commercial (Koppers-Totzek, Lurgi pressure, Wellman-Galusha, and Winkler); 2) ready for development (British Gas Corp./Lurgi slagging, Shell-Koppers, and Texaco); and 3) being developed (Bituminous Coal Research, Bi-Gas, Babcock and Wilcox, Combustion Engineering, CO/sub 2/ Acceptor, COGAS, Foster Wheeler, GEGAS, Hydrane, HYGAS, Rockgas, Synthane, U-GAS, Union Carbide/Battelle, and Westinghouse). In addition, Fluor describes its experience and capabilities in several areas related to coal gasification.
