A conceptual design for a commercial plant to produce SNG and synthetic crude oil from coal is described. The design utilizes FMC's COED coal pyrolysis process, combined with a low-pressure version of M. W. Kellogg's molten-salt process to gasify COED char. Estimates of plant and product costs are presented.
