Observations of the Galactic Center in the Radio Band

Observations of radio frequency spectral line of atomic hydrogen, ionized hydrogen, and molecular gas have long indicated the presence of large radial motions and large velocity dispersion of the gas in the central few kiloparsecs. The large non-circular motion of a large portion of the gas has been interpreted as evidence for expulsion from the center, and the large velocity dispersion within the central parsec as possible evidence for a massive collapsed object.
