Using personal computers for quick and convenient environmental sampling and analysis

Conference · · Transactions of the American Nuclear Society; (USA)
OSTI ID:5200666
With most of the scientific world becoming computer oriented, the method to provide the quickest flow of uninterrupted data is over a single hardware/software system. The personal computer (PC), IBM-compatible, has allowed data interaction in an expeditious manner. GPU Nuclear has successfully applied this theory to its Radiological Environmental Monitoring Program (REMP) and has not only increased productivity and its vast data base, but decreased the amount of time required for field surveys and data analysis and, most important, lessened the dependence on manual intervention by the scientist and increased organization of the data base.
