Investigation of energy distribution in reaction products of vibrationally excited cn radicals O(3p) atoms

Distribution of the reaction energy over the products of the atom-radical reaction, CN + O yields CO + N was experimentally investigated in the gas phase. CN radicals were produced by flash light photolysis of C/sub 2/N/sub 2/ in the presence of oxygen atoms. The formation of reaction products was measured by kinetic resonance-absorption spectroscopy, using a continuous CO laser for CO detection in the infrared and an atomic line lamp for the vacuum UV.
