Comparison of a spectral turbulence model with experimental data of Rayleigh-Taylor mixing

Conference ·
OSTI ID:519020
LLNL recent experiments by Dimonte et al. provide detail not present in older data; these data are used to evaluate some of the assumptions of the spectral model of Steinkamp et al., as well as single-point models such as that of Besnard, Harlow, Rauenzahn and Zemach 3. Also, simulations of Rayleigh-Taylor instabilities are used to augment the experimental data to give direct insight into the effects of fluctuating pressure correlations.
