New tyranny: how nuclear power enslaves us
Book

OSTI ID:5190047
Mr. Jungk suggests that choosing the hard path of nuclear energy will force us to surrender our liberties in order to protect ourselves from a nuclear catastrophe. He says the record of nuclear accidents and failures, the proliferation of nuclear materials, and the loss of personal freedoms raises questions about the capacity of the nuclear elite to manage a nuclear-based world and suggests that the nature of man and society must change in order to survive in the world. He feels that the political and societal fallout of the nuclear age must be included among the long-term hazards to weigh against the short-term benefits. Nuclear-related periodicals and organizations are listed in the appendices. 61 references. (DCK)
