Review of corrosion inhibitors for gas wells

Corrosion in gas wells occurs by an electrochemical mechanism. This paper assesses inhibitors which restrict this process. The physical character of inhibitors, especially their solubility/dispersibility behavior, is important to the application of inhibitors. They will not be effective unless they reach the corroding metal surfaces in sufficient quantity. Inhibitor testing must consider both the corrosion process and the transport of inhibitors to corroding surfaces.
