Literature concerning molecular fluorescence, phosphorescence, and chemiluminescnce spectrophotometry indexed in Chemical Abstracts from mid-November 1977 through the end of November 1979 is covered in this review. Topics excluded from the review include virtually all publications concerning atomic fluorescence, molecular luminescence in flames, x-ray fluorescence, solid-state phosphor luminescence, radioluminescence, liquid scintillation counting, and photosynthesis and solar energy conversion. Seven general areas of analytical chemistry in which the reviewer feels that noteworthy progress was made during the 2-year period are noted. The review is divided into the following general subject areas: general books and reviews, instrumentation and experimental techniques, analytical applications, and biochemical and clinical applications. 589 references are cited.
