Tunnel contacts in superconductors with a paramagnetic impurity
It is shown that a paramagnetic impurity eliminates logarithmic divergences and amplitude discontinuities in the tunnel current through a contact formed by superconductors separated by a dielectric film. The presence of the impurity leads to the disappearance of singularities in the first derivatives of the amplitudes of Josephson, quasiparticle, and interference currents, although the second derivatives retain the singularities characteristic of pure superconductors. The relationship between several tunnel characteristics and kinetic characteristics of massive superconductors is demonstrated. The current amplitudes are calculated at the low impurity concentration limit for a voltage across the contact equal to ..omega../sub g/ +- ..omega../sub g/', where ..omega../sub g/ is the energy gap.
