Part five of the hearing record covers testimony given on the last two days by 50 witnesses from a variety of businesses, communities, and interest groups on the value and effectiveness of air-pollution legislation. Arguments for continuing and strengthening the Clean Air Act were challenged by statements that the Act is flawed and presents an economic burden, especially for industry. The committee received a wide range of proposals for modifying the Act to make it either more or less stringent. Additional material submitted for the record follows the testimony. (DCK)
