Study of the decay D sup + r arrow K sup 0 e+. nu. sub e

We have studied the exclusive semileptonic decay mode {ital D}{sup +}{r arrow}{ital {bar K}}{sup 0}{ital e+}{nu}{sub {ital e}} in the Fermilab photoproduction experiment E691. We find the ratio of {ital B}({ital D}{sup +}{r arrow}{ital {bar K}}{sup 0}{ital e+}{nu}{sub {ital e}})/{ital B}({ital D}{sup +}{r arrow}{ital K}{sup {minus}}{pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup +}) to be 0.66{plus minus}0.09{plus minus}0.14, corresponding to a {ital D}{sup +}{r arrow}{ital {bar K}}{sup 0}{ital e+}{nu}{sub {ital e}} branching ratio of 6.1{plus minus}0.9{plus minus}1.6%. Combining this result with our measurement of the {ital D}{sup +} lifetime, we find {Gamma}({ital D}{sup +}{r arrow}{ital {bar K}}{sup 0}{ital e+}{nu}{sub {ital e}})=(5.6{plus minus}0.8{plus minus}1.5){times}10{sup 10} s{sup {minus}1}. We also find, using E691 averages, the ratio of decay rates {Gamma}({ital D}{r arrow}{ital K}{sup *}{ital e}{nu})/{Gamma}({ital D}{r arrow}{ital Ke}{nu}) to be 0.55{plus minus}0.14.
