Appearance of lung scan in venae cavae occlusion

Activity seen in organs other than the lungs during a perfusion lung scan using /sup 99m/Tc macroaggregated albumin (Tc-MAA) is unusual. Visualization of the liver due to venous occlusion after lower extremity injection has been described. The case presented here shows shunting of blood past the right heart due to superior and inferior vena cava obstruction.
