Plasma erosion opening switches (PEOS) experiments have been developed by the authors. A theoretical switch model is studied and is shown to be in agreement with experimental results. A power multiplication of 2.6 and pulse compression of 5 has been obtained on the SIDONIX I generator. A PEOS system will be tested on the AGLAE II pinch diode to enhance plasma homogeneity. They conclude that the PEOS system can improve and extend the operation of existing pulse power devices.
