Neon gas puff Z-pinch implosions on Proto-II

We have imploded annular neon gas puff Z-pinches on the 10 TW, 0.125 ..cap omega.. Proto-II accelerator. Proto-II delivers a voltage pulse with a 50 ns FWHM to the 8.5 nH single-disk vacuum feed. Currents up to 4 MA were delivered to the load. We will describe the implosion and stagnation properties of the neon plasma. Time-resolved and time-integrated x-ray pinhole photographs and time-integrated spectra will be presented.
