Anisotropic turbulent heat transfer in channels of nuclear power reactors
The characteristics of heat transfer in channels with a complicated profile are outlined. In order to take these features into account, the authors examine the laws of turbulent transport along the normal to the wall and in the azimuthal direction; in longitudinal runs the laws of transfer along the average motion must also be known. The author writes the system of energy equations in a somewhat simplified form for the region of the fuel element and for the region of fluid flow. The condition for interaction between the regions consists of the equality of the temperatures and heat fluxes at the interaction boundary. A new computational-experimental approach to the determination of the coefficient of turbulent heat transfer, which can be used for flow in channels with a complicated profile and which reveals the anisotropic nature of the transfer, is improved upon. All work performed thus far to improve this approach, substantiate it, and the results obtained by using it, are summarized.
