Reconfiguration strategies for multiprocessor systems

Conference ·
OSTI ID:5170088
Dynamic reconfiguration of multiprocessor systems is increasingly advocated as a way of implementing fault-tolerant systems. This paper is a survey of various approaches and techniques presented in recent literature for reconfiguring computer systems subject to component faults: individual processor death or malfunction, failure of communication links, shared memory faults, etc. Each approach is analyzed and its advantages and disadvantages are investigated. Directions of future research are outlined. 6 references.
