The results of modeling the equilibrium and MHD stability of a plasma with respect to vertical displacement compared with experimental results from the T-12 finger-ring tokamak with a poloidal divertor. Calculations for equilibrium divertor configurations which are symmetric and asymmetric along the principal axis of the torus are reported. The quantitative characteristics of the equilibrium configurations are shown to agree with experiments. The experiments and numerical simulations on the MHD stability reveal the parameters determining the instability boundary. Good agreement between the results of the numerical MHD simulation and experiment has been found.
