Ionic recombination of rare-gas atomic ions X/sup +/ with F/sup -/ in a dense-gas X

Rates for the recombination processes X/sup +/+F/sup -/+X..-->..XF*+X, (XequivalentHe, Ne, Ar, Kr, Xe) at 300 K are calculated for pressures of the background gas X in the range approx.0.1-50 atm. Rates as high as (2-7) x 10/sup -6/ cm/sup 3/ sec/sup -1/ are obtained for pressures 1-5 atm of Xe..-->..He, and in general decrease with increasing ionic mass, except at low gas densities.
