On-site synethetic fuel gas generation and combustion

Book ·
OSTI ID:5167799
With proper selection of technology, fuel gas manufactured from solid fuels can be economically substituted for fuel oil and natural gas. The gasification of wood or coal to produce a low-calorific fuel gas is technically and economically compared. A representative plant capacity of 6.3 X 10 to the power of 12 J/day was selected to perform conceptual design and economics for producing hot raw gas from wood; cold, clean gas from wood; hot raw gas from low-S coal; cold, clean gas from low-S coal; and cold, clean desulfurized gas from high-S coal. These cases are compared to provide a relative assessment of the cost of producing low-calorific fuel gas from wood or coal.
