When you wish upon a star. [Operating experience with CDC STAR 100 computer]

Conference ·
OSTI ID:5166887
The experiences of a computer user are given for a three year period of interaction with the CDC STAR-100 computer. The paper describes the history of the CDC STAR acquisition in brief detail, and the transfer of a large computer code from the CDC 7600 to the STAR. The shortcomings of the STAR are discussed and some simple equations are derived which aid in finding an upper limit to the running speed of a transferred code.
