Quest for triaxial nuclei: Some Hartree-Bogoliubov predictions

The existence of the static triaxial shapes is investigated in the framework of the Hartree-Bogoliubov method. Although some statically triaxial nuclei are found, the main result of the calculation is the ..gamma.. softness of nuclei. This fact implies appreciable dynamic triaxiality for most nuclei.
